Hans L. Leibbrandt Kievietlaan 4 5683 RC Best The Netherlands Phone +31 (0)499 398260 hans@leibbrandt.com To the Research department of the Musée du Louvre in Paris 25 August 2006 Concerning: Two unknown paintings, signed with "Vincent". One of my friend has inherited two paintings, signed with "Vincent". He inherited the painting from the son of a Dutch collector of paintings. The collector bought them shortly before the second world, most probably in Paris. After that, the paintings always were private property. The identity of the collector is fully known. A Dutch expert already stated that both paintings may be works of François-André Vincent and may represent a market place in Paris about the year 1800. Having a number of paintings of François-André Vincent, we think that the best experts regarding his works are in the Musée du Louvre. The Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam has already identified that both paintings are not works of Vincent van Gogh. Both works have identical sizes: height 53 cm, width 64 cm , one of them has been transferred to a new canvas. Photos of both paintings can be downloaded from the hidden website: http://veluwe.dutchweb.nl Macro-photos of the signs are included. The photo files are 500 KB. On your request we will send you colour photos printed on A4 as soon as possible Our question is: Can you help us to identify the identity of the painter and maybe confirm that the works are made by François-André Vincent ? When there is a real probability that the works are made by François-André Vincent , the owner is willing to travel to Paris to handover the paintings for a subsequent research by the experts of the Musée du Louvre. With kind regards, H.L.L
